New Water and Sewer Quality Program Update

What are the next steps to receive grant dollars?

As covered in ACEC Ohio's last legislative update ACEC Ohio Legislative Update-June 29, 2021, House Bill 168 included $250 million for a water and sewer quality program to be administered by the Ohio Department of Development.  This grant money is part of the American Rescue Plan Act dollars and will be distributed to Ohio's counties, townships and municipal governments to address serious water issues and ensure communities have clean and safe water.

As part of this legislation, each County Engineer shall provide a list of projects from their county to the Ohio Department of Development.  In addition, the Department of Development is required to develop criteria for the grants.

ACEC Ohio has been working with the County Engineers Association who will be the lead for county engineer submittals.  I will be attending a meeting on Wednesday with the Association Representatives from the Ohio Municipal League, Ohio County Commissioners Association and Ohio Township Association to start discussions on prioritization of projects.

Please click here for a memo from Dean Ringle, Executive Director of the County Engineers Association regarding the next steps for this program.  ACEC Ohio will continue to keep our membership updated as criteria is developed. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
