Improvement in business conditions slow, steady, says new Deltek A/E industry study

Business conditions for A/E firms continue to improve slowly and steadily, but the industry still has not fully recovered from the recession, according to the new Deltek Clarity Architecture & Engineering Industry Study.

This outstanding survey, which is conducted with the support and cooperation of ACEC and the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS), contains data submitted by 355 companies in the U.S. and Canada.  It provides over 250,000 data points about these firms' 2013 financial performance and their outlook for 2014.

It reports on how firms are performing financially, as measured by familiar metrics such as operating profit, net multiplier, utilization rate, overhead rate and net revenues per employee.  In addition, the report contains sections on The State of the A&E Industry, The Balance Sheet, A&E Outlook & Strategies and more.

Firms that participated can go online to see their own firm's results compared to the total pool of respondants or any of the various subsets of firms broken out in the report.

Of particular interest is the discussions of Key Performance Indicators of High Performing Firms, which actually comprised a full quarter of the participants.
