ACEC Ohio hosts confab with Senate President, Transportation Committee Chair

In the middle of an August 7 campaign swing through her northeast Ohio district, Ohio Senate Transportation Committee Chair Gayle Manning – accompanied by Senate President Keith Faber – took time to meet with a dozen ACEC Ohio leaders and members.

During the hour-long "meet-and-greet" the ACEC contingent, led by President Richard Iafelice (CT Consultants, Inc.) and Vice President Lynn Miggins (KS Associates, Inc.) took the opportunity to raise issues ranging from transportation funding to unfair indemnification requirements in public agency contracts to Qualifications-Based Selection.

"We are committed to doing everything we can to create jobs in Ohio and that's why we need to hear about issues that affect people like you, small business owners," Faber said.  Manning, who is running for re-election in the Senate's 13th District, encouraged those present to develop relationships with their state legislators.

ACEC Ohio Executive Director Don Mader and the Council's lobbyist, Kevin Futryk, participated in the event, along with these ACEC Ohio members: Jeffrey Lechak (Parsons Brinckerhoff); Richard E. Rockich (E.L. Robinson Engineering); Russell R. Critelli (The Mannik & Smith Group); A. Frederick Seling (Engineering Associates, Inc.); Robert G. Graham (M-E/IBI Group); Mark P. Henderson (LJB Inc.); Thomas E. Kramer (LJB Inc.); and Peter Lee (RETTEW).
