Message From Beth —June 25, 2025

A year of progress at ACEC Ohio included strategic advocacy, expanded member engagement and advancing our workforce development efforts.

Over the past year, we hosted over 60 meetings across board, chapter, and committee levels. We held professional forums on everything from HR and finance to marketing and private sector issues. A new Early Career Scholarship, our sixth class of Rising Leaders and chapter-based young professional events helped reinforce our commitment to supporting the next generation of engineers.

On the advocacy front, we hosted our second round of Regional Legislative Fly-ins, held influential events with Ohio House and Senate leadership. We advanced key policy priorities including OPWC reauthorization, the ODOT and GRF budgets, and successfully opposed legislation that would have negatively impacted non-compete agreements. We launched an “Advocacy 101” podcast to help members get more involved.

We also made strides in workforce development through expanded partnerships and co-hosted our first Women in Leadership seminar with WTS and NAWIC. Meanwhile, our Engineering Excellence Awards recognized 23 outstanding projects and brought statewide recognition to our members’ work.

Importantly, this year the Board finalized and approved a comprehensive strategic plan that will guide our priorities and actions moving forward. It will help guide our work on today’s top challenges such as AI, digital delivery, infrastructure funding, and talent development.
